Islah Academy

Islah believes that by using a balanced instructional approach that teaches the “whole child” (physically, emotionally and spiritually), children can excel academically and socially. By utilizing our students’ natural talents, cultural and linguistic identities, they are able to master core subjects and skills needed to be successful 21st- century learners.

Leadership and Character

Islah emphasizes a curriculum that teaches leadership skills such as, conflict resolution, motivating self and others, problem analysis and solving, effective communication, relationship-building and critical thinking. Students develop strong character and self-esteem through daily practices and community service.

Mission Driven

To educate Pre-K - 8th grade students by the use of high academic standards, to nurture excellent moral character based on Islamic principles, to cultivate 21st century-skill sets, and to produce leaders with strong commitments to social service based in an affordable private school.

Islah Academy takes the whole-child approach to education. Teachers, administrators, and support staff are trained in culturally relevant pedagogy to meet the intellectual, social, cultural, behavioral, and emotional needs of each and every child we serve.

Experiential Learning

Experiential learning is a process through which students develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting. Experiential learning encompasses a variety of activities including internships, service learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, and other creative and professional work experiences. Well-planned, supervised and assessed experiential learning programs can stimulate academic inquiry by promoting interdisciplinary learning, civic engagement, career development, cultural awareness, leadership, and other professional and intellectual skills. Learning that is considered "experiential" contain all the following elements: - Reflection, critical analysis and synthesis - Opportunities for students to take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for the results - Opportunities for students to engage intellectually, creatively, emotionally, socially, or physically - A designed learning experience that includes the possibility to learn from natural consequences, mistakes, and successes Islah also emphasizes building personal, lasting relationships. Research has proved that the key to success depends upon fostering and maintaining relationships. Our hands-on, engaging activities help students internalize the principles of team work and trust.
